AIM was born from a personal experience. After two consecutive days of intensive AI-assisted work — directing, verifying, and managing high-speed automated outputs — I found myself in a state that was qualitatively different from ordinary tiredness: mental fog, diminished mood, slower thinking, and a quiet, worrying question: is the work I find genuinely meaningful actually harming me?
That experience now has a name. A March 2026 study by researchers from Boston Consulting Group and UC Riverside, published in Harvard Business Review, documented what they call "AI brain fry" — defined as mental fatigue from excessive use or oversight of AI tools beyond one's cognitive capacity. Of 1,488 full-time US workers surveyed, 14% reported this experience. High AI oversight predicted 12% more mental fatigue and 19% greater information overload. Deloitte's 2025 Workforce Intelligence Report found that mental fatigue and cognitive strain have now surpassed workload volume as the leading predictors of burnout.
Classic workplace mindfulness programs were engineered for an earlier information age challenge: navigating an overload of external information. 2026's challenge is the human cost of machine velocity — and it requires a trained, protected human nervous system at the center of every AI-augmented workflow.

The purpose at the core of every practice is protecting the human at the center of the work — your own wellbeing, agency, and presence come first. But that same quality of attention has a direct second effect: sharper judgment, better-caught errors, and higher-quality output whenever AI tools are part of the process. The two are not in tension. A practitioner who is genuinely present produces better work as a natural consequence of the practice, not as its goal.
Each week has its own practice, its own research grounding, and its own Friday session where individual discovery becomes shared insight. The detail is richer in person — what follows is the shape of the arc.
The Somatic Gate — a Structured Body-Awareness Pause
A brief, structured practice used at the threshold of every AI interaction — the moment right before opening a tool or dashboard. Over the week, participants track their own patterns of overwhelm and bring them into Friday’s group session, where individual observations become shared insight about how this work actually affects the nervous system.
The Investigation Loop — Presence Before Output
A practice for staying genuinely engaged with AI outputs instead of passively accepting them — pairing attention to your own mental state with active investigation of what the AI has actually produced. Friday’s session, "The Hallucination Hunt," turns individual discoveries into pattern recognition across the whole group.
The Intent Anchor Protocol
A practice that grounds every AI-assisted workflow in who the work is actually for — from the moment it begins to the moment it’s shared. Includes a mid-work practice for staying present when pace pressure builds, and closes with a simple check-in before anything goes out the door.

Daily Desk Practice — 7 Hours Applied
20 min/day at the desk (Tue–Thu). 30-min Monday framing + 30-min Friday peer retrospective each week.

September 16 — October 9, 2026
- Wednesday, September 16 — Launch Intensive (4 hours, via Zoom). Two field days follow immediately — Thursday and Friday — putting the first practice to work under real conditions before the first Monday session.
- Weeks of Sept 21, Sept 28, Oct 5 — the three-week practice arc. Each week: a Monday framing session, daily desk practice, and a Friday retrospective (all via Zoom, 30–45 minutes each).
- Integration Intensive — closing session (3 hours, via Zoom), date to follow shortly after Week 3.
- Cohort size: 12–16 participants. This is a first pilot — small by design, to keep the group genuinely collaborative and to gather real feedback before a wider offering.
